A direct mailing company plans to permanently close its facility in Little Falls, Minnesota, leaving 330 current workers without a job.
IWCO Direct, based in Chanhassen, sent a letter to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Monday explaining its intent to shutter the plant at 1910 Haven Road.
The company cited “a change in business needs” for the upcoming closure.
“We apologize in advance for the impact this closure may have on the community,” IWCO Direct’s letter to DEED reads. “Operating out of Little Falls has been a positive experience for IWCO Direct.”
The layoffs will come in two waves.
On Nov. 1, 2021, about half of the current IWCO Direct workforce in Little Falls (approximately 165 people) will work their final shift.
The remaining employees will continue through Jan. 1, 2022, at which point operations at the facility will shut down entirely.
The closure is expected to be permanent, the company said.
IWCO Direct has four locations in the U.S.: Little Falls and Chanhassen in Minnesota, and Warminster and Hamburg in Pennsylvania, according to its website. The company offers a range of direct marketing services.
The company said it reached out to Little Falls’ mayor, and wants to work with the city “to provide the best services possible to our employees to prepare them for the facility closure.” It also asked DEED to provide transitional support through the state’s Rapid Response and Trade Adjustment Assistance Program.
