The Chain Account Specialist is responsible for representing Short’s Brewing Company and Starcut Ciders at select on- and off-premise key chain accounts across Michigan and potentially additional states within our distribution footprint. The position is responsible for developing account relationships, achieving business objectives such as increased sales, expanded distribution, brand priorities, and market share growth. They are also responsible for managing the communication and administration function pertaining to pricing, new item authorization, display execution, and promotion. This position is a critical link between Short’s, our distributors, and the key retail outlets throughout Short’s distribution territory.
The ideal candidate lives in the state of Michigan, but we are open to discussing a candidate who resides in the Midwest. At least two years of past chain account management experience is required.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Chain Account Specialist:

Annual Business Planning

Schedule, develop plans and ideas with the CSO and present to national and regional account buyers at spring and fall reset meetings.

Develop annual business plans with all chains accounts, including, but not limited to volume distribution, market share, promotion/incentives, pricing, production position, POS placement, etc.

Administration, CRM Maintenance & Account Analysis

Review and analyze IRI, Nielsen, and VIP data.

Work with Short’s design team to develop unique POS items for key chain accounts.

Update the CRM on a regular basis. Ensure all updates are timely and focused.

Manage all relevant information pertinent to chain accounts and ensure prompt notification to accounts of changes related to Short’s, our production, promotions, etc.

Other projects as assigned by the CSO or Operations Team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The Chain Account Specialist must be organized and work independently with a flexible schedule, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to forge strong professional relationships with key chain accounts.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as a suite of Google Mail software.

Well organized and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

A high level of integrity, confidence, and the ability to forge strong professional relationships.

Brewery knowledge, from the brewing to the bottling process.

Must be able to travel throughout the entire distribution footprint if directed by the CSO.

Good written communication skills. Must possess the ability to develop and provide all necessary written reports, business correspondence, and presentations necessary to satisfy job requirements.

Good oral communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Good time-management skills.

Possession of valid Michigan driver’s license. No new alcohol-related incidents or violations on the driving record.

No DWI offenses. To this end, you agree to call a taxi and/or get a hotel room if you are unable to responsibly drive. Such expenses may be placed on the company credit card and will be otherwise reimbursed by Short’s.

Physical Abilities:

Consistently carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds.

Occasional bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling, and reaching.

Frequently reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
